SHS Pubs Bag 22nd Word Cup Awards

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) Senior High School, through the Office of Student Activities, is proud to announce the outstanding achievements of its student journalists at the 22nd World Cup and the 7th Journalism Master Class held at the Subic Bay Peninsular Hotel in Subic, Zambales, from August 23 to 25, 2024. The event, which aimed to enhance multi-faceted journalism skills for students and professionals alike, saw the participation of various delegates from The Oculus Publications and Vista de Aguila, the official English and Filipino publications of AdZU SHS respectively.

The talented individuals representing AdZU SHS bagged numerous awards and recognitions, showcasing their commitment to responsible and ethical journalism. The award recipients are as follows:

MARIAN GAY FERNANDEZ (Vista de Aguila Moderator)

  • 3rd Place, Pag-uulo at Pagwawasto ng Balita
  • Ambassador Award

JOHN RYAN CEPEDA (The Oculus Publications Moderator)

  • 1st Place, Mobile Journalism
  • Honorable Mention, Copy Reading and Headline Writing

ASHLEY NICOLE RUIZ (Grade 12 HUMSS Fr Joaquin Bernas SJ)

  • 3rd Place, Column Writing
  • Honorable Mention, Copy Reading and Headline Writing

Additionally, the AdZU Senior High School and Junior High School were awarded the Bronze Ambassador Award.

The achievements of these student journalists and their mentors exemplify the values of becoming men and women for and with others, as they continue to illuminate the path of ethical reporting through their dedication to serving others. The Ateneo de Zamboanga University commends the delegates from The Oculus Publications and Vista de Aguila for their outstanding performance and wishes them continued success in their journalistic pursuits as they journey towards being men and women for and with others.
