Vision

The College Guidance and Counseling Office of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University is a serving component of the University community, envisioning itself as the center of excellence in students’ counseling services and counselor training in the region.

Mission

The College Guidance and Counseling Office aims to utilize counseling in terms of service and training to aid in the transformation of the students through their psychological and emotional well-being, for a life of excellence, spirituality, and citizenship. It also aims to promote development of the school counseling profession in the city and region

What we do

A. Counseling

Counseling is our core service. It allows us to help an individual effectively deal with personal, academic, interpersonal, emotional and career issues.

B. Student Group Guidance

  • A program designed to promote the students’ personal improvement through symposia, seminars, and workshops.

C. Student Testing and Evaluation

  • We facilitate students to undergo testing to determine strengths and areas of improvement. The counselor is at hand during the test interpretation to help guide students to comprehension that may be utilized for growth and self-improvement.

D. Peers’ Circle

  • This is a formation program for students who have the spirit of service through the various programs of the office. The Peers participate in volunteer work, outreach, referral and peer facilitation. Peers take on new members in the beginning of each school year and have activities all year round.

E. Academic Resiliency Program

  • This program offers assistance to students with academic concerns. Students who are in this program are followed up individually or by group to help them develop skills and positive attitudes needed for them to cope with their academic loads.

F. Career Development Program

  • The office seeks to develop in students the competencies needed to be able to face the life challenges after college. This program will provide instruction and related activities on adjustment, job hunting and life role readiness. Linkages are also sustained with various local, regional and national companies and firms, to be able to get information of job opportunities for our graduates.

G. Student Inventory

  • The office keeps a comprehensive and updated record of students which are used to provide counselors with information. These records are kept confidential and are only used by the guidance counselors.
