The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Salvador Campus welcomed alumni as they gathered to enjoy and celebrate the annual Grand Alumni Homecoming Fellowship Night last December 6, 2024. Homecomings are more than just reunions; they are a testament to the enduring bonds formed within the hallowed halls of AdZU.
The evening began with a heartfelt Jubilarians’ Mass at the University Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, honoring alumni from various batches for their lasting connection to the university. The jubilarians included:
- Diamond Jubilarians (60 years) – Batch 1964
- Golden Jubilarians (50 years) – Batch 1974
- Ruby Jubilarians (40 years) – Batch 1984
- Silver Jubilarians (25 years) – Batch 1999
These batches, representing many decades of AdZU’s rich history, were recognized for their contributions and unwavering support of the institution.
The activities were meticulously planned to foster unity and nostalgia. Following the Jubilarians’ Mass, the different alumni batches participated in a vibrant parade that meandered through the campus, showcasing the university’s spirit and the pride of its graduates. And what’s the best way to reminisce about the old school days? – Fellowship Night – where bonds of shared memories, tears, and laughter rekindled friendships.
For many, the Alumni Homecoming serves as a poignant reminder of the comfort and camaraderie found within the AdZU community. Alumni from around the world returned to the place they once called home, eager to reconnect with old friends and relive cherished moments.
The success of the Grand Alumni Homecoming was the result of a collaborative effort between the Alumni and Career Excellence Office, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Alumni Association (ADZUAA), and the Magis ’99 Silver Jubilarians (AdZU High School batch 1999). Embodying the true essence of going beyond, their collective dedication ensured that the event was not only another entry in the book of memories, but also a reflection of the values and traditions that AdZU upholds.
