The Rotary Anns West through the Ateneo de Zamboanga University-Center for Community Extension Services sponsored a 3-month feeding program for the out-of-school kids of Barangay Victoria, a partner community of CCES. The fund for the program was turned-over to ADZU President, Fr. Antonio Moreno, SJ last December 05, 2011 to feed 50 undernourished kids once a week for 3 months.
After series of community consultation and preparation, the feeding program commenced last February 06, 2012 in collaboration with the Barangay Health Center. The 50 children, ages 3 to 12, who were identified as beneficiaries of the program are both undernourished and indigent, coming from the different sitios of barangay Victoria. Every Tuesday at 10 in the morning, the guardians bring their kids to the health center where hot meals are being served.
Last March 02, 2012, the Rotary Anns West visited the site, to be with the kids and distributed snacks, toys, and school supplies. Mrs. Ivy Blanco, President of Rotary Anns West, said that they are happy to be of help to the kids and that they are looking forward to sponsor another feeding program next year, hopefully, five times a week for 3 months.
The Rotary Club West of Zamboanga City has been a consistent and reliable partner of ADZU-CCES in various feeding programs. Their generosity has helped rehabilitate countless undernourished and unfortunate children in our different partner barangays in the city.
