The Ateneo de Zamboanga University, through the University Research Office (URO), successfully hosted the Regional Research Conference 2026 on March 11–12, 2026, at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, Salvador Campus. The two-day conference gathered scholars, educators, and partner institutions from across the region to share research and strengthen collaboration toward sustainable development.
In his message, Fr Guillrey Anthony M Andal SJ, University President, emphasized the importance of preserving the human dimension in research, reminding participants that even in the age of artificial intelligence, meaningful research must retain the human touch that drives real impact.

Keynote speaker EnP Leticia Dolores II C Abao, Regional Director of the Commission on Population and Development–Region IX (CPD-IX), highlighted that research must move beyond theory and into action—transforming communities, informing policy, and improving lives.
Participants engaged in plenary sessions, parallel research presentations, and open forums covering education, culture, health, innovation, and technology. The conference also featured a special lecture on Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) delivered by Dr Paulino T Acebes Jr.

In her synthesis, Ms Perla S Ledesma, URO Director, reflected on the conference through the “Four Ps” — Plan, Preparations, Presentations, and Practice — underscoring that the true value of research lies in its application for the good of communities.
Congratulations to the recipients of the Best Paper and Best Presentation Awards, as well as to all presenters and partner institutions whose contributions enriched the dialogue and strengthened regional academic collaboration.
