New Member of the ADZU Board of Trustees

27 February , 2018

MEMO TO :  THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

RE : NEW MEMBER OF THE ADZU BOARD OF TRUSTEES

I am happy to inform the
community of the election of MS RUTH YU
OWEN
to the AdZU Board of Trustees
during the Corporation/BOT meeting on 24 February 2018.

Ms Yu-Owen is our alumna (Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Accounting, 1986) and the
founding benefactor of our SIU HUA YU
– Pan Kada Dia Food Program. More recently, she has been instrumental in
setting up the AdZU RISE Campaign which hopes to raise funds for our rebuilding
and institutional advancement efforts.

Ms Yu-Owen is presently the President
and Chief Executive Officer of PHILCARBON, a dynamic young company with a
growing portfolio of renewable energy projects at various stages of development
in the wind, hydropower, biomass and geothermal sectors. She and her team were
among the earliest players in the renewable energy industry with wind power
projects. She is deemed one of the first female leaders in the energy sector.

Her other related engagements
include the following: senior positions in Upgrade Energy Philippines and
Megawatt Clean Energy; Co-Chairperson of the Energy Committee of the
EUPhilippine Business Network; and Vice President for external affairs of the
Philippines Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2).

Among her many socio-civic
involvements are the All-In-One Mission and Lingkod Timog organized by the
Philippine Marines for the children in conflict affected areas of Sulu and the
poor areas in Mindanao. She is also active in the Art Living Foundation, an
International Non-Governmental Organization present in more than 150 countries
which conduct trauma relief programs to disaster-stricken areas.

I thank Ms Owen for her
generosity in sharing their time and leadership in the service of the mission
of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

I also take this
opportunity to thank ATTY JOSE MANUEL
MAMAUAG
who served in the Board for three terms (2009-2018) and whose
participation in
the Board these past many years helped
significantly in moving the University forward in its mission.
