Students from the College of Education joined the opening celebration of the National Arts Month and bagged the Most Artistic Group Award during the parade last February 1, 2010, with the culmination at the WMSU open stage. This was participated by students and faculty from different levels, artists, volunteers, and art advisers from all over the city.
This year’s Arts Month theme is “Ani ng Sining: Celebrating the Harvest of Culture and the Arts.” The central goal of the month-long event is to continue its advocacy for cultural identity, culture and arts education and to celebrate the talent of Filipinos.
Other activities for the Arts Month include: a Regional Seminar-Workshop on February 12-13 at WMSU on “Cultural Management and Skills Enhancement on Dance and Music” for art advisers, teachers, cultural workers and art administrators; and dance contests (folk dance for the elementary level, ethnic dance for the secondary level, and dance-theater for the tertiary level) on February 20 at the WMSU gymnasium.
