After the world was put on pause during the pandemic—with laws enforcing strict physical distancing and the use of personal protective equipment—the College of Nursing finally found its well-deserved rest after the long and grueling hours of online classes and RLE.
Organized by the ever-energetic Formation Officer, Lucia Loreli M Macrohon, with the support of the Dean, Dr Maria Lorna B Paber, and in coordination with partner institutions, the College held its Faculty Retreat in St Ignatius of Loyola Retreat House in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, from July 18 to 22, 2024.
The retreat served as both rest and recreation for the College of Nursing faculty as they prepared for the upcoming School Year 2022–2023 and the return to face-to-face classes. The long 12-hour trip from Zamboanga City did not deter the faculty and staff from enjoying the journey to their destination.
The sessions were facilitated by Fr Francisco ”Coco” Parilla SJ, one of the Jesuit Fathers who helped organize the retreat. Afterward, the faculty immersed themselves in the beauty of nature, visiting Kaamulan Park, the Monastery of Transfiguration and the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.
These activities strengthened the bond among the faculty beyond the four walls of the university. Despite the world having been on pause for the past years, along with other institutions globally, the College of Nursing is now ready to press play again—carrying with it the lessons of what has been and the hope of what will be.

As quarantine restrictions ease and face-to-face classes gradually resume, the College looks forward to educating the next generation of nurses with renewed spirit, compassion, and purpose.
