The Ateneo Center for Performing and Visual Arts (CPVA) will sponsor Atty. Briethner G. Amelda’s doll exhibit dubbed as “Munecas” on November 15-27, 2010, at the Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago (GPA), Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
The doll exhibit primarily aims to highlight the clothes and dresses worn by women of Zamboanga in the old times and in the near future. It is also an invitation to spread the habit of doll collection, healthy and worthwhile hobby for the young and the old alike.
The exhibit will feature a 40-piece doll collection showing the development of the costumes of the various tribes: Subanens, Yakans, Tausugs and Zamboangueños throughout the years. The costumes were produced with the little help of a few local designers following traditional tribal design specification and modern interpretations.
The artist, Atty. Breithner Gabasa Amelda, is a private lawyer. He is an alumnus of Ateneo High School Batch 1992. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Ateneo de Davao University in 1996 and Bachelor of Laws in 2003. The opening program for this doll exhibit will be on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 5PM.
