By fostering meaningful conversations on dignity, inclusion, and compassionate understanding, Ateneo de Zamboanga University continues to strengthen its commitment to holistic formation rooted in Ignatian spirituality. Through CONVERSACION: “Let’s Talk LGBT: Understanding the Basics through Ignatian Spirituality,” the University provided students with a vital space to deepen their awareness of gender identity and sexual orientation, and to reflect on how faith, empathy, and discernment shape a more inclusive and humane community.

Organized by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), on March 24, 2026, at the Bro Richie Fernando SJ Hall, FWS Building, Salvador Campus, the advocacy talk brought together Ateneans for an intimate yet meaningful dialogue. The initiative was mounted in collaboration with TAP Organization, Psych I Care, and the Psychology Department.

The session featured insightful talks from Fr Joel A Liwanag SJ, and Mr Jayson V Sandilon, which grounded the conversation with key Ignatian values: respect, compassion, discernment, and cura personalis, helping participants reflect on how faith and empathy foster a more inclusive and compassionate community.

The convesacion highlighted how true Ignatian formation calls for both reflection and action—challenging Ateneans to become persons for and with others, especially in fostering spaces where diversity is embraced, and every individual is treated with dignity and care.
