MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
It is my pleasure to announce to the community the appointment of Fr Albert E Alejo SJ as the Assistant to the President for Social Development. The appointment begins on 01 April 2011 until 31 March 2012. Fr Alejo assumes the role Mr Francis H Arroyo as the Coordinator of the Social Development Council (SDC). The SDC will be composed of the heads of the Center for Community Extension Services (CCES), Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement, Ateneo Peace and Culture Institute (APCI), Educational Leadership Development Program (ELDP), Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG), and the college/school-based social development programs (as distinct from activities). The SDC works closely with the Ateneo Research Center (ARC). It is hoped that the SDC will have an improved synergy with the academic units. Additionally, Fr Alejo will assist me in matters that concern our social development engagements in Zamboanga City and (Western) Mindanao. He will sit as a member of the Core PMT (Presidential Management Team).
The immediate task of the SDC is to revisit the Peace and Development Agenda, reaffirm some strategic orientations and chart new social development directions.
I would like to thank Fr Alejo for his availability to this important position. I also thank Mr Arroyo for his dedicated work as SDC Coordinator for two years.
