Alumni of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University are paragons of excellence and always eager to reach newer heights with their chosen professional paths and specializations.
Ryan Victor Miranda is one brilliant example, Mr Miranda is an alumnus of the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication Batch 2013 and graduated with honors as the Class Valedictorian. He was recently conferred with a master’s degree in Sociology, majoring in Global Social Studies, at the Corvinus University of Budapest in Hungary last July 26, 2024 through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program.
As a recipient of the Vicente Bello Fund and the Fr Tony Moreno, SJ college scholarship, Ryan devoted most of his free time to volunteering at the then Ateneo Peace and Culture Institute (APCI). He was given several opportunities to lead peace-building initiatives within and outside the AdZU community. As a dedicated peace-builder, his thesis focused on approaches to peace education, highlighting the narratives of peace educators from different regions in Mindanao.
In 2021, he earned his first master’s degree in International Studies at the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan (ROC) through the prestigious Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) Higher Education Scholarship Program, where he studied foreign aid to peace-building in Mindanao.
Prior to studying in Hungary, Mr Miranda accumulated over seven years of multifaceted experience spanning various roles within the Philippine government, academia, and international non-governmental organizations. He hopes to specialize in fostering inter-agency cooperation from grassroots levels to high-level policymaking institutions.
Mr Miranda’s achievements are truly emblematic of the level of excellence an Atenean can achieve. His numerous accomplishments are an inspiration to everyone in the AdZU Community – all of which demonstrate a laudable display of magis, doing more in the name of God and of country
