ALTEC prioritizes safety: implements PSEA policy to safeguard people

To ensure a safe and secure environment for all, the Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC) has implemented the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. PSEA is a comprehensive set of measures designed to prevent, detect, and respond to incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse, ensuring the safety not only of ALTEC employees and participants but also of members of the communities they engage with.

Who is covered by PSEA?

The PSEA Policy applies to all personnel of ALTEC and Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and personnel of implementing partners and institutions fall under the PSEA policy. ALTEC adopts a zero-tolerance approach to PSEA, and individuals proven guilty of perpetrating such acts will be promptly removed from the program or office.

Implementation Strategies:

  1. Quick Orientation at Events and Training: ALTEC ensures to conduct a brief yet detailed orientation on PSEA at the commencement of every event and training session. This immediate awareness sets the tone for a secure and respectful environment for all participants.
  2. Annual PSEA Refresher Seminar: Recognizing the evolving nature of safety protocols, ALTEC conducts a refresher on PSEA for the entire center annually. This ensures that all personnel are up-to-date with the latest information and strategies in preventing and addressing incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse.
  3. Communications Materials: ALTEC takes a proactive approach by placing communications materials prominently at the event and training venues. These materials include information on the PSEA report link and referral mechanisms, providing easy access to resources for reporting and seeking assistance in case of any concerns.
  4. PSEA E-learning Course for Consultants and Funded Entities: ALTEC mandates consultants and partners of ALTEC must undergo the PSEA e-learning course. They are required to submit a certificate of completion, ensuring that all entities associated with ALTEC adhere to the highest standards of safety and integrity.

By adopting these strategies, ALTEC actively contributes to the prevention and response to sexual exploitation and abuse within its programs and activities. The center believes in fostering an environment that prioritizes the safety and well-being of all participants, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism and ensuring the safety of the communities engaged.
