The Ateneo Learning & Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC), in partnership with the Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement (SACSI), has formed a collaborative initiative through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), specifically the Literacy Training Service (LTS), to make remarkable strides in enhancing community engagement. This alliance unites ALTEC’s educational expertise with SACSI’s focus on social awareness, creating a dynamic platform where literacy and service work in tandem to empower communities and cultivate impactful learning experiences.
An Exploratory Meeting on August 16, 2024, served as a vital platform for both parties to discuss initial plans and identify potential areas of partnership. This meeting laid the groundwork for integrating LTS focus on teaching literacy to underserved communities with SACSI’s emphasis on civic responsibility and active community involvement. Following this, an Update Meeting on August 30 further refined these proposals, ensuring alignment in their shared objectives of promoting literacy development and social consciousness.
