The Ateneo Alumni Association honored some of its best athletes in ceremonies that highlighted its annual Blue and White Night.Held December 6 at the Hacienda de Palmeras, the event, made possible by joint efforts of the Alumni Relations and Development Office (ARDO) and high school batch ‘74, marked the end of the 3-day alumni homecoming activities. Another high point of the evening was the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the ADZU Alumni Association.
The new set of officers and board of trustees inducted into office by ADZU president Fr Karel San Juan, SJ are: George Ledesma, president; Jaime Vicente Santos, vice president; Roel Tarroza, secretary; Brian Abejero, treasurer; Froilan Morales, auditor; members of the board of trustees: Lourdes Grace Antolihao, Antonio Blanco, Glenn Adrian Gorda, Maechel Kareem Muin, Edwin Makasiar, Cesar Ijares, Roseller Rojas, Raymond Gaspar Sator, Jaime Stevens, and Luis Zabaljauregui.
ADZU’s basketball “living legends” who were presented special distinction include: Antonio Orendain, Alfonso Enriques, EsmeraldoGollena, Rudy Tangco, Cesar Ijares, Alejo Marques, Pedro Alfaro, ToribioBucoy, Antonio Blanco, Wilfredo Miranda, Reynaldo Reynera, Warner Doroja, Domingo Doroja, Vicente Jun Largo, Pedro Alonso. Given recognition posthumously were: Esicio Alonso, William Kosloff, Manuel Penaranda, Alberto Pacheco, Ethelwaldo Vicente, Rolando Cabrera, and Eric Sanson.
Special acknowledgement was also given to Edgar Illustrisimo (coach and player), Benjamin Guingona, (manager and player), and Ildefonso Encarnacion (Ateneo Band Master).
