AdZU Gallery features Golden Jubilarian First Solo Exhibit

In line with the 2011 Grand Alumni Homecoming, the Alumni Relations and Development Office (ARDO) and the Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago (GPA) in cooperation with the AdZU Alumni Association, Inc host “FIRST IMPRESSION,” a first solo exhibit by HS Class ’61 Golden Jubilarian, Francisco “Paquito” V. Lorenzo.

Francisco V. Lorenzo was first a photographer before he discovered that he could also be a painter. Throughout his 37 years as a photographer, he gained recognition for his talent. He was honorable mention in the Canon Asia Photocontest in 1985. He won best entry in the Monochrome Manila International Photo Exhibit in 1988. During the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival Photo Contest in 1989, he won first and third prize in the regatta category as well as first and second prize in the bandoreal/festival category.
According to Lorenzo, he only came to realize that he could paint three years ago. He underwent a summer workshop under the famous artist, Rameer Tawasil. His paintings mostly depict landscape and still life. He harbors inspiration from the different people and places he encounters. When asked about what he gains from painting, Lorenzo said that he learned to relax and be patient. Also, as a painter, he realized that “You can learn to see things that ordinary people cannot see.”

First Impression will be opened on December 2, 2011 at 10:00 am and will run until January 28, 2012. It will be held at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago. The proceeds from the exhibit will go to the ADZU Centennial Scholarship Fund.
