The Human Resource Administration and Development Office gathered the new members of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University community for a day of Kumustahan on January 14, 2017 at the Nuevo Zamboanga Laboratory Hotel in Pasobolong, Zamboanga City.

Participants of the activity were the ones who attended the Orientation of New Faculty and Staff held last June 2016.

As part of the “kumustahan” process, the participants recalled their moments of enthusiasm, joys, frustrations, and disillusionments in their work. But despite having to face challenging moments in their areas of assignment, they all expressed a sense of fulfillment through participation in growth sessions, affirmation from their peers, friendships they have made with their colleagues, and achievements of their students.

Assistant to the President for Formation Fr Wilfredo Samson SJ, anchored the sessions and processed the experiences shared by the participants.

Rosie Hong of the Junior High School, Conrado Balatbat of the Admissions and Aid Office, and Roniel Soriano of the Grade School were invited to talk about their own workplace experiences. All three resonated that the years they have spent in the Ateneo taught them lessons and made them better persons in the process. Hong is currently a consultant at the junior high school for curriculum instruction and assessment while Balatbat is a full-time contractual employee as the director for Admissions and Aid Office. Both are retirees after having served the Ateneo for 41 and 38 years respectively. Soriano on the other hand has been with AdZU for almost 4 years. Currently, he teaches Science and MAPE subjects in the Grade school.
