launches Ateneo Cares: An Outreach Program to Humanity and the Environment

The ADZU School of Management and
Accountancy launched the Outreach Program dubbed as the “ATENEO CARES” on
December 14, 2013 at the ADZU Brebeuf Gymnasium. Dean Maynard Bagtasos of the
School of Management and Accountancy, together with Dr. Joy Dajuela the
Chairperson of Management Department, and Mr. Marc Angelo Rojas the Chairperson
of the Accountancy Department, were present to lead the launching ceremony.

This month-long fund raising event,
which starts on December 2013 aims to sell T-shirts scripted with the words: Faith,
Hope, and Courage
. The proceeds from the sales will be donated to the
victims of conflict-stricken areas of Sta. Catalina, Sta. Barbara, and Rio
Hondo, to orphanage centers, and home for the elderly here in Zamboanga City
and areas in Visayas affected by calamities. This CSR project envisions to help
the less fortunate who are victims of both human made and natural calamities.
Its goal is to bring awareness to our students that amidst the crisis and
calamities, the Ateneo cares for the environment and its people.

During her inspirational speech, Ms.
Emma Alipala, an Environmental Management Specialists of The Office of the City
Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) of Zamboanga, urged the members of
the academe and students to participate in the government’s effort to clean and
protect the environment.

The launching of this event was
supported by its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Moderators: Mr. Edwin
Pamaran the Outreach Coordinator, Dr. Visitacion Buenvenida, Mr. Roberto
Valerio, and Mr. Francis Arroyo. Also present were the following: Ms. Malou
Bernardo- SMA Executive Secretary, Accountancy Teachers Ms. Felicita Simbajon,
Miss Melanie Manuel, Management Teachers Mr. Abelardo Asistido, and Mr. Jose
Journal Pangan.
