AdZU hosts the special public lecture and launching of Bakwit by Jose Jowel Canuday

Mr. Jose Jowel Canuday, a fellow of the International Fellowships Program of the Ford Foundation and a former Southeast Asian Visiting Fellow of the Refugee Studies Centre in University of Oxford in United Kingdom, launched his book entitled Bakwit last 15 July 2010 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU). The launching was preceded by a special public lecture where the author talked about the capacity of the displaced to persistently and creatively deal with the destructive force of repeated displacement. These activities were organized by the members of the Social Development Council of ADZU.

Currently, Mr. Canuday is conducting fieldwork in the cities of Zamboanga, Manila and Taguig for a comparative ethnography on identity making in the digital age, a dissertation for his doctorate in Social Anthropology at the Institute of Social and Cultural anthropology, University of Oxford. While on fieldwork in Zamboanga, he affiliates with the Ateneo Research Center of ADZU.
