MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: WEEK OF PRAYER FOR FORMER PRESIDENT CORAZON “CORY” C AQUINO
Many of us who recall the turbulent years of martial law will no doubt give credit to the leadership of Former President Corazon “Cory” C Aquino for our restored democracy. The February 1986 bloodless revolution ushered in a democratic transition that inspired various political transformations in Central and Eastern Europe and in Latin America. Our Filipino people showed that peaceful democratic transition, dubbed as “People Power” is possible, thanks in great measure to Cory Aquino.
I would like to urge our AdZU community to spend some time in prayer for the wellbeing and healing of Cory Aquino. I suggest that the main intention of our St Ignatius Masses on 30 July, Thursday, will be for her wellbeing and healing. I urge other religious groups, Muslims and Christians, to devote the same prayer for her intention.
