Spread Love and Share More: Ateneo Holds Christmas Love Drive 2013
The Ateneo de Zamboanga Campus Ministry Office, in coordination with the office of the Formation, SACSI, CEES, different schools, colleges, student organizations, and the Alliance of Religious Organizations, organized the Annual Christmas Love Drive on December 2013. This year’s theme was “Spread Love and Share More”. It aimed to reach out to our less fortunate brothers and sisters who belong to the indigenous groups.
The recipients for the annual love drive are adopted barangays from the ADZU CCES communities. These communities are located in the remote areas of the city and received little attention from the government during the Zamboanga crisis.
On December 14 2013, the Alliance of Religious Organizations (ARO) gathered as one family at the MPCC for the annual love drive packing and they were able to prepare 1,200 family packs for the adopted communities. The said goods were distributed on Dec 18 and 20 to the different communities in the East and West coast (Barangay Campo in Labuan, Monte Central in Patalon, Victoria, Fishermen Village & Poso in Barangay Manicahan, Kalibatu & Kapuk in barangay Lamisahan). Aside from the family pack used clothing and hygiene kits were also distributed for the kids.
The simple way of sharing the spirit of Christmas always brings back smiles to our dearest brothers and sisters. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our generous donors from the different institutions/sectors, the student volunteers, faculty and staff, members of the Alliance of religious organizations, and to everyone who donated goods and extended their effort to make the event possible.
