Highlighting excellence, leadership, and service within and beyond the university community, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University conferred honors to more than 150 Ateneans and student organizations during the AMDG Awards 2026, reaffirming its commitment to forming men and women for and with others through purpose-driven excellence, service, and the Ignatian spirit.



Rooted in the principle of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam or “For the Greater Glory of God,” the annual awards ceremony celebrated individuals and organizations that demonstrated exceptional achievement and meaningful contribution in academics, leadership, athletics, the arts, journalism, and community engagement.



Among the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of 89 recipients of the Amare et Servire Award, honoring students who exemplified committed service and meaningful contribution within and beyond the university. Major distinctions were also conferred on Kryshna Carylle M. Mitra, recipient of the Ateneo Peace Award; Muhammad Niezam C. Abdulmunap, named Athlete of the Year; and Jilmark Jade M. Buhian, awarded Student Leader of the Year.






Excellence across various disciplines was likewise recognized through proficiency awards in Academic Competition, Debate, Journalism, Sports, Dance, Graphic Design, Literary Arts, Music, Visual Arts, Photography, and Film, highlighting the diverse talents and achievements of the Atenean student body.



Student organizations were also honored through the Outstanding Organization of the Year Award, Community Service Award, and Best New Club Award for their initiatives and contributions to student formation and campus life. Meanwhile, the St. Ignatius Leadership Award recognized individuals who embodied servant leadership and the core values of Ignatian formation.



Special recognitions were given to El Consejo Atenista, Teatro Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and Beacon Publication for their significant contributions to student leadership, culture, and campus journalism.



The AMDG Awards 2026 underscored AdZU’s mission of nurturing individuals who pursue excellence not solely for personal achievement, but in service of others and for the greater glory of God.
