In line with its commitment to forming competent, compassionate, and transformative educators, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Education (AdZU SED) conducted its Rites of Mission and Pin & Ring Ceremony on May 20, 2026, at Astoria Plaza, Grand Astoria Hotel, with the theme, “21st Century Ignatian Educators: Beyond Instruction, Toward Formation.” The event served as a meaningful milestone in the journey of Junior and Senior Pre-Service Teachers as they continue embracing the mission and vocation of becoming future Ignatian educators.

The ceremony officially started with a Holy Mass, allowing participants to begin the occasion through prayer and reflection while recognizing the values that shape the teaching profession.

It was followed by the welcoming remarks of Mr. Eddiemer U. Albiso, BSED English – III, who greeted the attendees and expressed the significance of the event for the School of Education family.
A central moment of the program was the symbolic passing of the guiding light, representing the continuous sharing of knowledge, values, and commitment among educators. Mr. Moh. Shirl V. Mohammod, representing the parents, shared an inspirational message and passed the guiding light to Mr. Al-Muzzmil D. Mohammod, BSED English – IV, representing the Senior Pre-Service Teachers.
Afterwards, Mr. Erborne G. Fajardo, BSED Mathematics – IV, bestowed the guiding light to the Junior Pre-Service Teachers through Ms. Ellaine Rachel M. Sartorio, BSED Sciences – III, who also led the Acceptance and Oath of Commitment.

The ceremony also highlighted another significant tradition through the Ring and Pinning Ceremonies, facilitated with the assistance of Ms. Pilar Agraviador, Professional Education Department Chair, and Mr. Earl Francis Pasilan, Physical Education Department Chair. These symbols represented the pre-service teachers’ dedication, commitment, and readiness to embrace the responsibilities of the teaching profession.

Dr. Ma. Christina A. Canoñes, University Archivist of AdZU and SED alumna, then delivered an inspiring message that reminded future educators of the deeper purpose of their vocation and the significance of becoming educators who lead with compassion and service.

The ceremony also featured a heartfelt testimony from Ms. Fairy Ann E. Dulaca, BSED Mathematics – IV, the Most Outstanding Graduate of the School of Education, who shared reflections and experiences from her academic journey.

Closing remarks were then delivered by Ms. Agraviador, emphasizing the importance of carrying forward the values and mission instilled through Ignatian education.
The event concluded with a community singing of “Saranggola” by Ben&Ben, symbolizing growth, guidance, and purpose, followed by a special cultural presentation by the Baile Folklorico, which added vibrancy and celebration to the meaningful occasion.
Through this significant event, AdZU SED continues to uphold its mission of forming future educators who are not only equipped with knowledge and skills but are also guided by compassion, service, and the Ignatian spirit of becoming persons for and with others.
