“Strength to Accept God’s will”
Whenever we encounter big responsibilities, we tend to dodge, pass or ignore them. Some people identify these responsibilities as burden to them and some fear the failed outcome without first trying them out. Responsibility does not imprison us rather it is a form of calling to take action towards a situation. Being responsible means response-able. You are able to response to a “call”. But where does this call came from and why is it necessary to respond?
In the story from the gospel of Luke, we can clearly see that Mary’s calling came from God. The Father called Mary to bare the fruit of humanity’s salvation which is Jesus Christ. He asked her to take care of Jesus who will later save us as all from all our sins through His passion, death and resurrection. And with all the fears like the possibility of accusation of adultery and be stoned to death since she knew no man and was able to bear a child, she gave her full faith to the Lord’s will and humbly accepted her calling. After which the rest is history and God’s mission was fulfilled. Likewise, we have a calling from the Father. Each of us is with our own mission. This mission will always direct us to the best outcome like Mary. In this season of advent we should listen to His call and be response-able like the Blessed Virgin Mary as we prepare ourselves for the coming of our savior Jesus Christ.
