Demonstrating its continued commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability, the Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability (ACES) of Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) conducted the “Amistad Eco Leadership Camp 2026” on May 25-26, 2026, at Sirommon Island, bringing together AdZU’s eco-warriors for a meaningful formation and leadership-building experience.

Anchored in the values of friendship, solidarity, and care for our common home, the camp served as a platform for ecological immersion, reflective learning, community engagement, and leadership formation. Through a series of interactive activities, meaningful discussions, and shared experiences, participants deepened their understanding of environmental sustainability and strengthened their commitment to advancing ecological responsibility within their respective spheres of influence.

Derived from the Spanish word amistad, meaning friendship, the camp embodied a spirit of collaboration and shared purpose among individuals united in promoting a culture of ecological consciousness within and beyond the University community.

Inspired by the message of Laudato Si’ and guided by the University’s mission of forming persons for and with others, the AdZU eco-warriors continue to transform environmental awareness into concrete action, fostering hope and sustainability for communities and our common home.
