Beacon EIC joins roster of Ayala Young Leaders
Trisha Ortega, BS Accountancy senior and Beacon Publications Editor-in-chief, was among the 81 outstanding student leaders who participated in the 18th Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC), held last February 9 to 12, 2016 at Lima Park, Batangas.
The three-day youth congress consisted of a series of inspirational talks from representatives of different sectors such as the government, social development, indigenous people, and education. “You’ll meet people from all over the country who has the same passion as you. They want to evoke positive changes to their respective communities like I do,” says Ortega.
For three consecutive years, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University has sent representatives to the said youth leaders’ congress. For this year’s batch, of the 680 applicants from top academic institutions all over the country, only 157 were shortlisted after passing the interview by executives of the Ayala Group of Companies. The final slate of AYLC Batch 2016 were announced December last year.
“AYLC allowed me to reflect on the kind of leader that I am by knowing myself a bit better. It gave me the hope that the little things I do can have a positive ripple effect to other people and in the long run, contribute positive changes to my community,” concludes Ortega.
