Atty Jose Edgar C. Muñoz, CEO of Security Services Corporation, and his wife Charity Schuck – Muñoz donated 25 units of Compressor Nebulizers to the partner communities and schools of the Ateneo Center for Community Extension Services (CCES). The official turnover ceremony was held on December 4, 2014 at the Jose Maria Rosauro Function Hall.
The recipients came from different sites including public elementary schools, high schools, barangays within the city as well as in Basilan and Jolo. They are from the Ayala District, Manicahan District, Putik District, Zamboanga Central District, Mercedes District, Sta. Maria District, Baliwasan District, Labuan District, Zamboanga City HS Main, Zamboanga City Nat’l HS West, Don Pablo Lorenzo National High School, Talon-Talon National HS, Jolo – Sulu, People’s Organization in Basilan, San Ramon Penal Colony, IP Education Preschool – Labuan, Montecentral IP Education School, Masepla Transitory Site, Fisherman’s Village, Manicahan, Poso, Manicahan, LGU Lamitan City, Basilan.
This is the third batch of sites benefitting from the generosity of Mr Muñoz. In 2010, he donated 10 units of nebulizers to 6 barangays and also gave another 10 units 6 more barangays in 2011.
In aid of the University’s mission of advocating social transformation and CCES’ effort of making basic health services accessible, the units were donated to sites where basic equipment such as a nebulizer is not readily available. With the prevalence of Acute Respiratory Infections in all its areas, CCES hopes that the compressor nebulizers will help minimize mortality resulting from inaccessibility to such basic equipment.
Atty Muñoz is a HS batch 1960 and BSBA batch 1964 graduate of the Ateneo de Zamboanga. Ms Ms Christine V. Calunod, Director, Alumni Relations and Development Office, Ms Loreta R Sta Teresa, CCES Director, Mr Wilfredo Dalipe, Ateneo Alumni Association President, and representatives from the different recipient schools, barangays, and organizations were also present during the ceremony.
In his message Father President Karel San Juan SJ thanked Atty Greg for his generosity that will definitely save the many lives of the students and residents in the beneficiary communities.
