Mr Alshamir Bryan Barrera Aripuddin, an alumnus of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Education program, bagged the top prize for Best Composition for the song “Para Contigo” during the Original Chavacano Music Video Festival 2015 held on October 7 at Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar.
Aripuddin’s composition also won two other major awards: Best Song Performance and Best Music Video. The former was received by Keidi Shay Napalcruz and Rogin Christ Eribal, and the latter by Mr Roberto Oquias Jr, who is both an alumnus and a part-time faculty of the AdZU Computer Science Department. The video also got the Voters’ Choice Award for its popularity on social media.
The festival was part of the Fiesta Pilar extravaganza organized by the City Government which aimed to promote the unique language of Zamboanga City – Chavacano. (with contributions by Sarah Mae Camenforte and Ana Kriselda Natividad)
