The Ateneo Cultural Dance Troupe won 3rd place in the SK Inter-School Cultural Competition on August 31, 2012 at the Vitaliano D. Agan Coliseum, Tetuan, Zamboanga City. The theme of the celebration was “Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka Pilipino.”
The dance troupe presented the “Megtuntungan,” a Yakan Festival dance depicting the traditional cycle of rice production. The piece featured also the Yakan war dance called “tumahik,” performed by men, accompanied by ladies balancing on top of seven porcelain plates while going through the motions of the dance.
The event was sponsored by the Sangguniang Kabataan of Zamboanga City and was participated by public and private schools in the city.
