The Ateneo de Zamboanga University joins the commemoration of the 110th birth anniversary of one of its known alumnus Senator Roseller T Lim last February 9, 2025 with the theme “Luz de Ley y Justicia”.

The commemoration was organized through the SHS-Department of Social Sciences and Physical Education led by Chairperson Rovic John Eslao in partnership with JCI Zamboanga and the City Government of Zamboanga thru Turismo Zamboanga. It started with a mass at 8 AM at the Carmelite Monastery presided over by Fr Salvador Wee SJ. It was followed by a wreath-laying program at his monument between the Western Mindanao State University and Zamboanga City High School-West wherein the participants were welcomed by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University represented by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School Assistant Principal for Formation and Community Extensions Miss Meryll Resoor. The university sent a wreath through the Ateneo Alumni and Career Excellence Office. A keynote message was delivered by the Honorable City Mayor John Dalipe followed by a response from the Lim family through the senator’s nephew Mr. Reynaldo Lim. The program was closed by a challenge from Chairperson Eslao.





We are very grateful for the participation of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Glee Club as our choir for both mass and the program led by Maestro Carl Anthony Camacho, the assistance of Unit Formation Director Mr Honey Rod Alfaro and Mr Egidio Sua, the graciousness of the Carmelite community, assistance from Mr. Jireh Niño Salagoste, Mr Marc Justin Casino, and Mr Gemyl Laping representing La Liga Historia Zamboangueña – AdZU SHS Chapter, and the escorts from our AdZU Rover Circle led by Mr Alrazhed Cawanan and Ms Tecia Chrisar Rivera.
Roseller Tarroza Lim was born on February 9, 1915, and graduated from the Ateneo de Zamboanga High School as one of its first graduates and its Valedictorian. He studied law at the Silliman University where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1940, and passed the bar examinations in the same year. He taught at the Ateneo de Zamboanga for some time and later became Dean of the College of Law of the Zamboanga AE Colleges. He became congressman for Zamboanga from 1949 to 1955 before becoming the first Senator from Zamboanga from 1955 to 1963.
