AMAZING ATENEANS | Team AdZUSPLOIT grabs the first runner-up spot for the regional HACK4GOV competition

The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Regional Office IX spearheaded the Hack4Gov regional competition’s third iteration on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

The event included a series of activities and discussions in which participants learned how to handle real-world cyber threats. The event provides participants with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience dealing with cyber threats.

Over 13 teams participated in the competition, and Team AdZUsploit secured a 1st runner-up spot. Team AdZUsploit comprises BS Information Technology and BS Computer Engineering students Justin Benedict Mendoza, Keefe Gareth Laguerder, Zayn Majid, and Said Berek Gunaydin. The 13 teams share their cybersecurity expertise and exhibit best practices in cyber defense.

Said Berek Gunaydin, a third-year BS Information Technology student, was one of the competition’s best individual scorers, earning him the excellence award. Team AdZUsploit is also top in terms of completing and solving the challenge.

The DICT Cybersecurity – Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) organizes the Hack4Gov tournament, a capture-the-flag (CTF) competition, to raise students’ awareness of the importance of cybersecurity and provide hands-on experience and techniques for determining and combating cybersecurity threats.

The CSITE extends warm congratulations to Team AdZUsploit. Continue soaring high and making cyberspace more secure while fostering awareness of cyber threats.
