170 MIPES Pupils Received School Supplies from NCIP

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Zamboanga collaborated with the Ateneo Center for Community Extension Services (CCES) Office in the distribution of school supplies to 170 pupils of Monte Central Indigenous People Elementary School (MIPES) on June 15, 2015 at the Monte Central Indigenous People Elementary School in Barangay Patalon.

MIPES is the first Indigenous People Elementary School in Zamboanga City established by ADZU thru CCES on June 2011, in partnership with the Assisi development Foundation. The school is currently managed by DepEd and co-managed by the Monte Central Subanon Education Council with 5 grade levels and kindergarten. The distribution of school supplies is in support to the Subanon pupils’ pursuit of education at MIPES. The teachers also received teaching aid materials from NCIP.

MSEC members, led by Timuay Abelardo Sanggadan of Patalon and Polomisala Martin Guinilac, were present during the activity. The NCIP Regional Director Woy Lim P Wong, MPS, Henrico L. Gumibao, TMSD. Engr. George Jocutan of NCIP Zamboanga and Richard Pamaran were also there to facilitate the distribution.

RD Woy Lim P. Wong, NCIP Regional Director, advised the children to value  education because it will lead them  to their dreams. He also thank the Ateneo de Zamboanga University and the Assise Development Foundation for the support given to the IP communities.
