An Ateneo first year BS Mathematical Science student was recently crowned National Statistics Quiz champion during the 18th Philippine Statistics Quiz competition held last December 4, 2009 at the Social Security Auditorium in Quezon City.
Abdel Aziz A. Alfad bested 16 other contestants during the finals to emerge as National Statistics Quiz champion.
The Philippine Statistics Quiz aims to assess the competency and skills of college freshmen in statistics as acquired from high school, as well as to promote public awareness and appreciation of Statistics among students. Alfad won a cash prize and trophy during the competition.
Mr. Abner C. Alvarez of the Match Department of the College of Science and Information Technology acted as coach under the supervision of Dean Aldrina Hitalia.
