Ateneo de Zamboanga University Finance Officer Br. Raymond Belleza joined other Jesuit brothers from East Asia and Oceania in a meeting held on July 14 to 17, 2009 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
The Society of Jesus brothers meeting was held to address critical issues affecting the vocation in the East Asian Jesuit Province. The forum was attended by Jesuit Superior General Fr. Adolfo Nicholas, SJ.
Top in the agenda was the dwindling number of Jesuit brothers in the vocation. Forum participants sought to craft programs to propagate the vocation in the region as well as affording interested parties more information and knowledge of the other Jesuit vocation.
The meeting coincided with the Jesuit’s celebration of 150 years of service in Indonesia. Dutch Jesuits renewed their congregation’s mission in the Southeast Asian country in 1859.
Aside from Br. Belleza SJ, the Philippine Jesuit Province was represented by Br. Jeffrey Pioquinto SJ who is alumnus of ADZU.
