In solidarity with the Linggo ng Kabataan and in the spirit of Compañerismo (Companionship), the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, through the Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG) and Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC), conducted a socio-political forum and training entitled: “PANSITAN: Kilos Kabataan para sa Kaunlaran,” a socio-political forum and training that is designed to engage in a conversation, training, and journey with the youth on spaces of social development and governance.
The training kicked off with ACLG presenting a National and Local Socio-economic and Political Situationer, providing a context for the training. Following this, the participants underwent training on positive youth development and participation modules, which was facilitated by the training team of ALTEC.

After the training, Hon. Kimberly Anne Villaflores provided the last session, “Lakbay Kilos: Building Civic Identity through Action.” The session aimed to deepen the training’s themes by sharing her leadership journey and experience, and how one’s advocacy can translate into meaningful and concrete action in the service of others. This aims not only to inspire young leaders to engage in formal politics but also to be a progressive leader who can redefine politics and participation for meaningful social change.
The program was participated in by 33 youth-serving organizations from different universities and schools, community-based organizations, and Sangguniang Kabataan in the city.
This program manifests the collective aspiration of building the youth’s capacity and disposition as leaders within their own communities, ultimately driving positive social transformation for the common good.
