MEMO TO : THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
RE : VICE PRESIDENT FOR BASIC EDUCATION AND NEW JHS PRINCIPAL
I am
happy to inform the community that the Board during their 25 February 2017
meeting approved the creation of a Vice
President for Basic Education post to strengthen and streamline academic
coordination, administrative supervision and program alignment of the Grade
School, Junior High School, and Senior High School.
Beginning
April 1 2017, Fr Stephen T Abuan SJ,
shall assume the VP for Basic Education post. He joined the Ateneo de Zamboanga University
in August 2014 as Principal of the (then) High School unit soon after he
completed his master’s degree in Catholic Educational Leadership from the
University of San Francisco (2014). He also served as Principal of the Xavier
University High School, Cagayan de Oro City from April 2007-March 2011. He is
active as accreditor for the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools,
Colleges and Universities.
FR
ARNEL T ONG SJ, or Fr Atong, shall assume Fr Pen’s post as Junior High School Principal. He joined us soon after his ordination on April 18,
2015. Prior to his new appointment, Fr Atong has been the Basic Education
Chaplain and has taught Christian Life Education to JHS students. As regent, he served as a class moderator,
CLE teacher and Campus Ministry Director at the Ateneo de Manila University
High School. He is an alumnus of the Ateneo de Davao University (BSC-Management
Accounting, 1999) and holds a master’s degree
in Theological Studies from Ateneo de Manila University (2016).
I
thank Fr Pen and Fr Atong for their generosity and leadership in the service of
University’s mission of education and social transformation Western Mindanao
and beyond.
