MEMO TO: THE GRADE SCHOOL PARENTS /GUARDIANS
RE: SECURITY AND SAFETY PLAN FOR GRADE SCHOOL UNIT
In view of the recent crisis that has affected the city since last month, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University has employed stricter measures for security purposes. The following guidelines are therefore brought to your attention which shall be implemented effective November 5, 2013.
I. NEW CLASS SCHEDULE
The resumption of classes will be on November 5, 2013, Tuesday which is also the start of Third Quarter. Two class schedule schemes for Grades 1 to 6 will be implemented as follows:
- MORNING CLASSES ONLY for GRADES 4 to 6 (7:30 to 11:10)
- 3 meetings a week for Filipino, Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Sibika
- 2 meetings a week for Language, CLE, MAPE/Computer and HELE
- AFTERNOON CLASSES ONLY for GRADES 1 to 3 (1:00 to 4:00)
- 3 meetings a week for Filipino, Reading, Mathematics, and Science
- 2 meetings a week for Language, CLE, MAPE/ Computer, and Sibika
PRESCHOOL and KINDERGARTEN CLASS SCHEDULES WILL REMAIN AS IS.
Please take note of the following (all grade levels):
- A copy of the class schedule will be given to each student on November 5.
- Students are not required to bring their books to school on November 5 and 6. Psycho-emotional First Aid sessions will be conducted on these dates. Students are requested to bring with them art materials (bond paper, pen, pencil , crayons).
- The school will observe a Homeroom Recess for Grades 1, 2 and 3. It is therefore highly encouraged that students in these levels must come to school bringing with them their food for recess.
II. DROP-OFF and PICK-UP
To strengthen and support the security and safety measures of the University, there will be NO DRIVE-THRU effective November 5, 2013. DROP-OFF and PICK-UP of students may be along:
- La Purisima Street: two Grade School Gates shall be dedicated for drop-off/pick-up, the old gate and a new one near the new guard house;
- Nunez Street: through Gate 5 near MPCC
Parents / Guardians / Fetchers are advised to give clear instructions to their children/ wards as to which waiting area they will be fetched. There shall be assigned teachers who will be bringing the students to the preferred waiting area.
III. STRICT COMPLIANCE of DepEd ORDER NO. 11, S. 2011 section 159 on CAMPUS SECURITY
The above order stipulates that “only bonafide students of the school shall be allowed in the school campus. NO VISITORS, including parents, guardians or tutors shall be allowed inside the campus during and after school hours except for valid reasons with prior approval of the Unit Head”. The University shall strictly implement this order.
