Rooted in Mission, Renewed in Spirit: College of Nursing Faculty Retreat and R&R in Cebu City

June 17, 2025

Staying true to its commitment to holistic formation and spiritual renewal, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University College of Nursing held its annual faculty retreat at the Cebu Center for Ignatian Spirituality – Jesuit Retreat House along Good Shepherd Road, Banawa Hills, Cebu City, from June 8 to 14, 2025.

Organized by the College’s Formation Officer, Ms Lucia Loreli M Macrohon, with the continued support of the Dean, Dr Maria Lorna B Paber, the retreat once again provided a sacred space for reflection, prayer, and communion among the faculty and staff.

The sessions were facilitated by Fr Willy Samson, SJ, a Jesuit priest who remains dear to the hearts of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University community and the College of Nursing. Through his meaningful insights and heartfelt sharing, participants were guided to deepen their Ignatian spirituality, rediscover their sense of mission, and strengthen their collective purpose as educators and formators of future nurses.

After the retreat, faculty members took the opportunity to explore and unwind in the Queen City of the South. Some visited Simala Church, Sirao Garden, and Tops Lookout, while others opted for a relaxing staycation filled with merrymaking and music. These shared experiences offered moments of joy, connection, and gratitude—reminders of the beauty of community and the gift of rest.

With renewed spirits and strengthened bonds, the College of Nursing faculty returned to Zamboanga with hearts filled with gratitude and a deepened sense of purpose—ready once more to serve, teach, and inspire in the Ignatian tradition of excellence and compassion.
