Retreat and Recollection Facilitators gather for“Disconnect to Connect: The Art of Drawing Close to God”
Retreats and recollections are an integral part of life as an Ateneo de Zamboanga University student. All students, whether Roman Catholic or not, participate in at least one spiritual retreat or recollection each school year. It is a time when a student temporarily leaves behind the usual worldly distractions to focus on prayer and contemplation, and rekindling and deepening the relationship with God.
Retreats and recollections in ADZU are highly organized affairs spearheaded by the Campus Ministry and the Office of the Assistant to the President for Formation. Because of the volume of retreats and recollections given, the Campus Ministry years ago formed a pool of volunteer faculty and staff who help facilitate the retreats and recollections.
In preparation for the start of a new school year, the pool of facilitators, made up of teachers from the Grade school, High School and College units as well as office staff gathered together in an event called “Disconnect to Connect: The Art of Drawing Close to God”.
The objective of the event was to set the tone for the year so that the facilitators will be appropriately disposed and ready for the retreats and recollections in school year 2015-2016. Fr. Gil C. Donayre, SJ, chaplain of the Basic Education units, was the resource speaker.
The event was held in the afternoon of June 13, 2015 at the Platinum Hall of LM Metro Hotel in Barangay Tetuan.
