MEMO TO : THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
RE : NEW APPOINTMENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE
I wish to announce the appointments of Ms Marietta M Lucas as Director of the University Communications Office (UCO) and Ms Joan Mae A Barredo as Media and Communications Specialist beginning second semester of this school year.
I thank Ms Lucas for taking time off from her current duties as Clinical Instructor at the College of Nursing to oversee the University Communications Office. She is is an alumna of our AB Mass Communications program (1985) and has completed academic requirements for a master’s degree in Communications at Ateneo de Manila University. She has a solid Communications background having worked in the following capacities: Information Officer at the Philippine Information Agency – Region IX in Zamboanga City (2004); Lecturer/Assistant Instructor (Part-time) at AdZU Mass Communications Department (2002–2004); Senior Publications Assistant at the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE) in Makati (1993-2002); Staff Member, Philippine Association for Media Education, Quezon City (1992–1993); News Reporter (Part-time), Parish Power in Makati City (1991–92); Copywriter, Systems Technology Institute–Central Office in Makati City (1991); and, Planning Assistant, Communication Foundation for Asia in Manila (1989–1991)
After her two–year Jesuit Volunteer Philippines (JVP) stint at the Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) in Oriental Mindoro, Ms Lucas served as English Instructor at AdZU from 1987–1989.
Ms Barredo is also an alumna of AdZU BS Mass Communications program (2011) and served for one school year as SACSI program officer soon after her graduation. Her work experiences include: Editorial Assistant for special projects, brand extensions and advertorials for the Hinge Inquirer Publications which is a member of the Inquirer Group of Companies (2012–14); USAID Project Assistant for communications (2014); and, Social Media Correspondent for the Mindanao Development Authority (2015).
Ms Lucas , along with Ms Barredo and the rest of the UCO team, shall be primarily responsible for ensuring that the University communicates more effectively with both internal and external audiences — students, faculty and staff, alumni, parents, our friends and partners, and the general public.
I also thank Ms Monabelle B Delgado for her service as University Communications Officer from November 2014 to August 2015.
