The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Grade School officially opened School Year 2026–2027 on June 15, 2026, welcoming learners back to the William H. Kreutz (WHK) Campus in Tumaga for a new year of learning, formation, and community building.

The campus came alive as students reunited with friends, met new classmates, and began a new chapter in their Atenean journey. Through engaging classroom activities and Getting-to-Know-You sessions, learners were encouraged to build meaningful connections and foster a strong sense of belonging from the very first day.

The Grade School community gathered for its first General Assembly at the Fr. Aureo Nepomuceno Covered Courts (FANCC), where visiting Jesuit scholastics and members of the Jesuit community were warmly welcomed. During the assembly, Grade School Principal Ms. Mary Grace S. Forniza reminded students to embody the values of Competence, Character, Conscience, Compassion, and Culture – pillars of holistic Atenean formation. Vice President for Basic Education Mr. Jeffrey O. Jalani, MS, MDM, likewise encouraged learners to remain curious in learning and kind in their interactions with others.

The gathering also celebrated students and personnel who exemplified punctuality on the first day of classes, as well as participants of the recent Macau–Hong Kong Educational Tour. The opening program concluded with a community blessing led by Fr. Jerome Emmanuel “Jem” Guevara, SJ, entrusting the school year to God’s guidance and grace.

As School Year 2026–2027 begins, the AdZU Grade School community looks forward to a year of growth, discovery, and shared success as it continues its mission of forming young Ateneans to become their best selves.
