From October 27 to 30, 2025, Dumaguete City hosted the National Career Expo and Learners’ Convergence Philippines 2025, bringing together thousands of learners, youth leaders, and education partners from across the country. Organized by the Department of Education, the event focused on career awareness, leadership formation, and practical pathways for students as they prepare for life beyond the classroom.
Through the Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center, the Learning to Earning Pathways Programme participated in the gathering as one of DepEd’s partner organizations. Throughout the week, the ALTEC-LEaP! team facilitated interactive engagements and conversations that invited learners to reflect on their own pathways—personally, academically, and professionally. At the Learners’ Convergence, students were introduced to the Saktong Skills Serye, a suite of micro-courses designed to strengthen essential life and work competencies in a format that is accessible and responsive to their realities.
At the National Career Expo, learners visited the LEaP! booth and participated in the Saktong Challenge, where completing at least one micro-course opened opportunities for recognition. Yet beyond the incentives, what proved more meaningful were the questions raised by the students themselves. Many asked how the skills they were developing could be applied within their school leadership roles, community initiatives, and future career decisions. These exchanges reflected a desire not only to earn certificates, but to grow with intention.
For ALTEC, participation in the convergence aligns with its broader mission of formation and service. By offering structured, skills-based learning opportunities that complement formal education, the LEaP! Programme contributes to a more integrated approach to youth development—one that supports discernment, competence, and responsibility as young people navigate their transition from learning toward clearer and more purposeful directions.
