Languages Dept holds Best Research and Paper Presentation Tilt for Eng 112 Classes
True to its efforts to promote a culture of research among its students, the Languages Department of the School of Liberal arts recently staged it 5th Best Research and Paper Presentation at the Campion Lecture Hall on March 9, Saturday. This event also marked the first Paligsahan sa Pinakamusahay na Konseptong Papel at Tagapag-ulat among Fil 112n students.
Out of 25 Engl 112n classes, 5 research studies and their authors made the cut in the preliminary evaluation to proceed to the finals. These students were then judged on the merits of their oral discussion of their findings. The same selection process was done for the 15 Fil 112n classes.
Serving as judges for the English category of the event were Ms. Liza M. Garrido, Mr. Marlone M. Araneta and Ms. Estesa Xaris Que-Legaspi. While, joining Ms. Anamae M. Tanguilig in the Filipino segment were Languages Department chair, Mr. Robin A. De Los Reyes and Dr. Minda V. Santos.
Sheena Mae S. Alcala and Nefertiri T. Najar, both BA Communications students, of Engl 112n-G bagged the two top prizes with their study “Changing Notions of Beauty: Media Portrayal and Skin Perception.”
Meanwhile, Nisreen-Aini S. Teo of Fil 112n-B, with her paper “Ang Persepsyon ng mga Mag-aaral ng Pamantasan ng Ateneo de Zamboanga sa Impluwensya ng Pisikal na Kaanyuan at Relasyong Sosyal sa Unang Impresyon sa Iba: Isang Pagtatalakay sa Maling Panghuhusga” won both prizes for the Filipino competition.
The said event culminated with the awarding of certificates to the winners and participants.
In his message, Mr. De Los Reyes exhorted the students present to continuously uphold academic integrity in all their present and future research endeavors.
