The College of Nursing faculty and staff once again took a well-deserved pause from their academic responsibilities as they gathered for their annual retreat held at Betania Retreat House, Cagayan de Oro City, in July 2023.
Spearheaded by the College’s Formation Officer, Ms Lucia Loreli M Macrohon, with the support of the Dean, Dr Maria Lorna B Paber, the retreat provided an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and fellowship among the nursing educators. Guided sessions were facilitated by Fr Francisco ”Coco” Parilla SJ and Fr Rene Tacastacas SJ at Betania Retreat House.
This allowed the participants to realign their purpose and strengthen their shared mission of forming future nurses guided by compassion and excellence.
Following the retreat, the group visited Amaya View and the Gardens of Malasag Eco Park, where they enjoyed moments of rest, recreation, and fellowship amid the scenic landscapes of Cagayan de Oro City. The day was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of teamwork—reminding everyone that while the call to teach is demanding, it is also deeply rewarding when shared in community.
To cap the trip, the faculty and staff visited Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan for a benchmarking activity, where they exchanged insights and best practices in nursing education and institutional development. The experience offered meaningful discussions and fresh perspectives that will help enhance the College’s own academic programs and practices.
With hearts refreshed and spirits recharged, the College of Nursing faculty returned home inspired to continue their mission with renewed zeal and purpose, ever committed to nurturing future nurses in both skill and spirit.
