FOI Forum: A Discussion Among Stakeholders to the Filipino’s Constitutional Right to Free Expression

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines-Zamboanga City Chapter is in partnership with Ateneo De Zamboanga University, vis-a-vis its Social Sciences Department, and the Mass Communications Department, for the holding of a 3- hour Public Forum on the Proposed Freedom of Information Act (House Bill No. 3732), which is presently pending at the House of Representatives.

The gathering is dubbed as “FOI Forum: A Discussion Among Stakeholders to the Filipino’s Constitutional Right to Free Expression,” and is set on 20 November 2012 at the Campion Hall, Ateneo De Zamboanga University, from 8:30 to 11:30 in the morning.

We are thus inviting student-leaders, campus writers, professors, and interested individuals in the university to attend said forum, the lead speaker of which is Ms. Rowena Carranza-Paraan, NUJP Secretary-General. Other speakers are from various media outfits.

This FOI Public Forum hopes to provide attendees an opportunity to hear speakers, who are journalists, share about the pros and cons of the FOI House Bill; while allowing in-school youth and other stakeholders to gain a heightened appreciation of the right to information, and the value of transparency and good governance in a democratic republic, and provide them exposure to share their ideas beyond the confines of the 4 walls of the classroom.

For inquiries you may contact Ms Mary Rose Jean Andrada at 2290/9265415/09998809897 or Ms Christina Canones at 2240.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you there! Thank you.
