MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: FEAST OF ST IGNATIUS AND RE-INTERMENT OF THE REMAINS OF ABP LUIS V DEL ROSARIO SJ DD
I wish to inform our community of the schedule of our Masses on 30 July, Friday, in honor of the Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus:
8.00 AM – Grade School Community (Sacred Heart Chapel)
10.00 AM – Tertiary Level and Central Services (MPCC)
2.00 PM – High School Community (Lobby of HS Building)
I urge your participation in any of the Masses above. 31 July, Saturday, is a school holiday. There will be no offices and classes at all levels that day.
On 31 July, Saturday, we will bring the remains of Abp Luis V del Rosario SJ DD from Sacred Heart Chapel to the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (MCIC). The opening rite begins in Sacred Heart Chapel at 2.00 PM, then a procession follows to MCIC were the remains will be re-interred in the crypt. Mass at MCIC is at 3.00 PM. A brief testimonial service will be conducted after the Mass. The rite of re-interment follows thereafter.
Abp del Rosario was the longest serving prelate in the Archdiocese of Zamboanga having been the (Arch)Bishop here for 33 years (1933 – 1966). During his watch, the First Diocesan Synod in 1941 was conducted. Under his leadership, the Archdiocese of Zamboanga grew and expanded tremendously.
