The Center for Community Extension Services (CCES) together with students of Mass Communication and volunteers of ADZU Society of the Knights of Ignatius (SKI) conducted a half-day tree planting at Dulian waterfalls area last October 03, 2010. The activity aims to preserve the drinking water source area of the community. Since May 06, 2010, the inauguration of Water Project System in Dulian, 70 households have benefitted from the said project.
This is the second time that CCES conducted such activity. On August 29, 2010, in coordination with Rotaract Zamboanga and Luuk Water Project Committee officers and members, CCES held the same activity in Luuk, Limpapa.
Both Luuk, Limpapa and Dulian, Upper Bungiao were beneficiaries of the water project system of the Assisi Development Foundation Incorporated (ADFI) through ADZU-CCES. The tree planting activities were participated by the water project committee and members, the local government units, and the students of ADZU and staff of CCES.
For this tree planting activity, the participating groups planted narra tree seedlings, which were obtained from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). Each participant planted at least one tree. More than 100 narra tree seedlings were planted within the vicinity of the waterfalls and other areas in the community. The rest of the seedlings are yet to be planted by the members of the water project at the water source area approximately 7 kilometers from Centro Dulian.
The said activity ended with a bath at the cold and inviting waterfalls and with a small salo-salo prepared by the community people themselves to show their deepest gratitude and appreciation to those involved in the activity.
