Feast of Saint John, Apostle and evangelist

Gospel: John 20: 1, 2-8

“Mary Magdalene”

What was striking to me in the gospel was the woman named “Mary Magdalene”.

She was a sinful woman whom Jesus cast out seven demons from her. Yet, she repents from all her sins and found both forgiveness and friendship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Since then, she stood faithfully at the foot of the cross and saw the risen Lord. This was a powerful example for each believer.

Each and every one of us commits sin, either venial or mortal. There’s always a reason behind why people commit a sin. We don’t know why they are into such. But if you repent, change for the better, and follow Jesus’ way of life, the Lord will forgive you and He will never leave you behind. I met people with similar cases as Mary Magdalene, and they are serving the Lord now. Their lives seemed to be so smooth and happy. Sometimes they experienced difficulties but with just a knock at the Lord’s door, everything turned out to be fine. Sinful as we are, if we believe and be faithful with the Lord, nothing seems to matter. For our Lord Jesus Christ is the King, let’s all rejoice and be glad. If we always be righteous we can be with Him for He loves us so much.
