Corporate World and Empowered Youth – Learn How to Get HIred and ThrIve In the Corporate World

SL in WAVEs: TED Talk Sessions

A dynamic TED Talk session was held at the Bellarmine Campion Building, On the afternoon of March 18, 2025. The event titled “Corporate World and Empowered Youth,” is a collaborative initiative of the Alumni and Career Excellence (ACE) Office and the newly launched program of Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement (SACSI) Office, “SL in WAVEs: Service Learning in Weaving Authentic and Valued Experiences.” It featured resource speakers from MEGA Prime Food, Inc. and aimed to equip students with the tools, insights, and skills necessary to navigate the corporate world and succeed in their careers.

Mr. Gebrel Al Bari , Branding & Communications Lead, kicked off the session as he emphasized the importance of preparation when entering the workforce. He discussed the value of building a professional network from scratch and how cultivating meaningful connections can unlock numerous opportunities. Moreover, Mr. Bari’s talk inspired students to be proactive in developing their personal brand and building their networks.

Mr. Bari’s talk was followed by Mega Prime’s, Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding,  Ms. Kristine Policarpio as she addressed the challenges of working in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world. She stressed the need for adaptability, flexibility, and continuous learning to thrive in today’s corporate sector. Ms. Policarpio also highlighted the importance of financial planning, encouraging students to save early for long-term security.

The session concluded with Mr. Roy Caballero, HR Site Lead at MSC Plant, concluded as he tackled the importance of breaking stereotypes in the workforce. He emphasized the career opportunities available at MEGA Prime Food, Inc. and how the company fosters employee growth. Mr. Caballero shared valuable insights on internships and employment opportunities, encouraging students to gain hands-on experience to complement their academic learning.

Overall, the Corporate World and Empowered Youth TED Talk session offered a comprehensive overview of the skills needed to succeed in the modern workforce. The speakers provided actionable advice and practical insights, leaving students with the confidence and preparedness to navigate the challenges of the corporate world and shape their own successful futures.
