“The mission of the health workers is not just to cure the sick but to give hope to the sick”
– Fr. Albert Tex Paurom, SJ, MD
In line with CCES’s mission to provide healthcare services to hard-to-reach and marginalized communities, we are expanding our approach from promotive and preventive care to disease treatment. The Tele Tulong: “Alagang Abot-Dulo, Ginhawang Panalo Project, in partnership with Fr. Albert Tex Paurom, SJ, MD, aims to reduce health inequities by improving access to basic health services and addressing systemic barriers through capacity building and sustainable interventions.

In February, trained Family Health Guardians (FHGs) from Sitio Mosalag, Barangay Limpapa, and Simariki Island, Barangay Talon-Talon were oriented on this new initiative. These community health workers play a crucial role in providing preventive and promotive healthcare to their families and communities.

To further equip them, the Level III Hybrid Treatment Intervention Training was held on March 8 and 15, 2025, led by Fr. Tex Paurom, SJ, MD. Four representatives from Simariki and Masalag participated, gaining advanced skills in community health intervention.
A key focus was Telemedicine, a modern approach that enables remote consultations via phone, video, or online platforms, making healthcare more accessible in remote areas. Participants also received hands-on training in using essential medical tools such as blood pressure monitors, thermometers, and oximeters.
Additionally, they learned proper documentation of patient records and basic surface anatomy, improving their ability to assess and respond to medical concerns.
To further support these communities, blood pressure apparatus, first aid kits, and essential medicines will be provided under Fr. Tex’s prescription and guidance. These resources will enable immediate medical attention, potentially preventing conditions from worsening and, ultimately, saving lives.

With stakeholder commitment, creativity, teamwork, and faith, we continue to extend compassionate healthcare to underserved communities, ensuring that even the most remote areas receive the care they deserve.
